On July 29, 2010, Giurgiulesti International Free Port received the largest vessel in the history of the Port. It was an oil tanker named Makhambet under the flag of St Vincent and Grenadines, with a deadweight capacity of 12,000 metric tons. The vessel is 149m long and 17m wide and was transporting oil products from Greece to Moldova.
While approaching the GIFP oil berth the vessel was assisted by Danube Logistics’s harbor pilot and its tugboat. The vessel, which was chartered by BEMOL TRADING SRL, successfully discharged its cargo of diesel and gasoline into the storage tanks of Danube Logistics’ oil terminal.
