Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega paid a working visit to the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, (PILG) southern Moldova, on 19 november afternoon.
With a status of free economic zone, PILG is the only direct point of distributing and transportation to and from Moldova, which provides access to the land, railway, river and sea communication lines. A meeting took place at the headquarters of the Danube Logistics company, — the manager of the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Giurgiulesti. Attending the event were acting Transport and Roads Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc, representatives of the Economics Ministry, as well as the leadership of the Danube Logistics company.
The director-general of the aforementioned company, Thomas Moser, unveiled a report on the work of FEZ-Giurgiulesti, evolution of exports and imports through the transport infrastructure of PILG. According to the presented data, FEZ-Giurgiulesti has 43 residents, 466 employees, and the investments amount to 60 million dollars. The participants in the meeting also considered subjects on cooperation with the Moldovan government, in order to develop FEZ-Giurgiulesti, among which: restoration of the Giurgiulesti-Chisinau highway and railways, water supply and other aspects.
